Joe Rotella, Owner of The Wild 1 Media, knows all too well how difficult it is to keep the momentum going as a small business owner of a graphic design and audio production company. But, it’s his focus on the end product and making sure his customers are satisfied that keeps him going every day.
What services or products do you offer?
Audio editing, graphic design, video editing, and audio production.
Where did you get the idea for your business?
I wanted to have more time to do the things I enjoy doing and having more time with family. I have knowledge and background with graphic design and audio, which allow me to pick and choose the jobs I want to take on.
What is unique about your company?
I know this isn’t 100% unique, but it is important to me to provide good service for the people that hire me, there aren’t layers of people you have to go through to make sure things get done, and you can interact with me directly, which is nice.
What is the one thing you would want your customers to know that maybe they don’t realize?
That giving the full information of the project they need completed is extremely helpful, as it can cut down time and costs for them.
What is something you found unexpected getting into your business?
How difficult it is to keep the momentum going.

What is the most difficult thing you have had to overcome in developing your business? Or what mistakes have you learned from?
I learned to breathe when getting frustrated with a client or if I make a mistake and need to fix it. And to take time taking notes better for what a client really wants. Being better at interpreting what they are looking for.
What forms of advertising have you found most effective? Have you ever done commercials on TV, radio, or internet?
Podcasts. They have driven tons of traffic to my website.
What is your favorite / least favorite thing about being an entrepreneur?
Being in charge of everything is a blessing and a curse.
What is the best advice you ever got and from whom?
“Love your kid more than you dislike your ex.” I use this same way of thinking when doing tasks. “Love your end product more than you dislike the path there.”
Are there other businesses you work with on a regular basis that you consider partners? Are there other business you are looking you are looking to partner with?
With ConnectGO, I do a ton of great projects with them and partner with them on many things.
