Being a small business owner means having the tenacity to make things happen every day for your business. It’s about thinking outside of the box, staying curious to new trends, and thinking of creative strategies to beat the competition. Not one small business owner is alike in how they navigate their daily routine, or have all of the same traits that make them successful. Some may have learned the hard way in their path to success, and others have the natural ability and business know-how to get stuff done. Below are five traits of highly successful small business owners.
Having passion
It’s better to wake up and love what you do than half-liking it just because it makes you a lot of money. Where there is passion, there is drive and a desire to be the best. Most entrepreneurs start their businesses out of a hobby they were passionate about or a cause they were affected by. With passion comes success, then the profits soon follow.
Good problem-solving skills
With every day comes a new challenge, and part of running a small business is knowing how to tackle the problems that arise. The ability to think quick on your feet, make tough decisions, and handle any issues that come up with customers or employees, are commodities small business owners must posses.

Persistence
Running a business isn’t an easy venture. There will always be setbacks. Being able to overcome them and keep moving forward, while staying persistent with tasks each day makes a small business owner a success. When you stay focused on achieving your goals, there is nothing that can stop you. Never give up.
Staying Curious
Looking for ways to improve and to stay on target with current trends is a way to stand out as a small business owner. Joining business networking groups so you can see what other businesses are doing to stay current, or seeking advice on how to improve your product are some of the things successful small business owners are privy to.

Confidence
Knowing who you are and what you want from your business takes a lot of confidence, and it’s a trait not to be taken lightly. Confidence isn’t innate, or something you’re just born with. It is built by being good at what you do and keeping a positive outlook, while also knowing about your own abilities and limitations. You become more confident while testing yourself.
